Trader Joe’s Dried Baby Bananas
Dried fruit can be an acquired taste. Sometimes it is a texture issue, sometimes it is a taste and flavor issue, sometimes it is an added sugar issue. The bottom line is that Trader Joe’s has found a way to address many of these issues. Introducing Trader Joe’s Dried Baby Bananas
While they may not look terribly appealing, these bad boys are amazing. They are small, naturally sweet, no sugar added, and completely snackable. The ingredients are literally just the baby bananas. The problem with bananas is that they are generally filled with a lot of natural sugars. So while I could eat a whole bag of these in one sitting, I would suggest against it. The amazing thing too is that they are two dollar per bag! Very affordable for a great and healthy snack. They are great for both kids and adults, and can be eaten at any time during the day.
ONE THING I LEARNED TODAY:
I have always been a fan of dried fruit. I especially enjoy it in trail mix. The problem with most of those fruits is they are completely COVERED in added sugar. Dried pineapple is already sweet…why are we then covering that in MORE SUGAR? I am starting to consider making my own healthy version of trail mix. The recipe will definitely include some of these bad boys chopped up. It will unfortunately not include M&Ms or pretzels. It will likely just be nuts and fruits, and I will try to dabble with Whole30 compliance. I am going to scour the internet this weekend for Whole30 trail mixes, then optimize it to my liking. You will likely see this recipe in my Foodie Friday blog coming up within the next week or so, so keep an eye out.
