March Madness Is Easy…
When your team (*cough*Wake Forest*cough*) doesn’t make the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament…March Madness is Easy…You print out a bracket, crumble it up, and toss it directly in the trash! Thanks Demon Deacons! I used to obsess over the brackets. I would pay to enter anywhere from 2-10 different pools. In high school, I vaguely remember a group of my buddies and I even met at the local library one year to collect all of the brackets and money for our own little gambling ring. Entrepreneurial…or young bookie…you make the call.
ESPN and technology has made things very simple these days. You can even fill out up to 20 brackets per username. There was even a billion dollar prize for a perfect bracket, which has never happened in the history of the bracket challenge as far as I recall. I used to fill out all 20 brackets, pondering for hours over the possible upsets and Cinderella stories that could emerge. But not this year…
This Year Is Different
This year I filled out one bracket. One. It wasn’t even completely intentional. I have been so busy lately, I completely forgot the tournament started today to be honest. But it is a good kind of busy. The kind where you can feel the momentum gaining to a point where you just know things are going to work out in the end. So I am not even mad or upset that I only filled out one bracket. As a matter of fact, the reason I filled out the bracket was because Gary Vaynerchuck’s social media bot sent me a spam email asking me to join his bracket challenge a few days back, so I did. Don’t even remember who I have winning it all, but Michigan State rings a bell, despite the bad press they’ve been dealing with this year.
ONE THING I LEARNED TODAY:
Its ok to break old habits and miss out on things now and again. Especially when the reason you are missing out is productive and truly worth it. So enjoy your March Madness NCAA College Basketball Tournament, but don’t forget what is truly important to you these days.
