I Don’t Agree with Today’s Wellfie Wednesday: Stretch

I Don’t Agree with Today’s Wellfie Wednesday: Stretch, and here is why. I feel like mobility is an important aspect of general health and well being, I just don’t think we are committed enough to stretching to make long lasting differences. I also feel the research is not strong enough in favor of stretching for long lasting changes. This is why I have started doing Yoga.

I know that flexibility has never been a strong point for me. I have been doing DDP Yoga (Diamond Dallas Page Yoga) for about 7 weeks now (2-3 days per week) because I find it more functional. I use it as my off day training when I can not get to the gym. When I first started, I could barely reach my hands past my knees. Now, I can almost palm the floor (its going to take losing a few more of those belly pounds to get there).

ONE THING I LEARED TODAY:

You do not have to take all advice all of the time. I trust the posts put out by the Wellfie Wednesday Crew. They are good people trying to help as many people as possible make positive health changes in their lives. I simply don’t agree with this call to action of adding more stretching in our daily routines. I think some people can benefit from stretching for sure. I am just going to continue doing Yoga for my flexibility purposes. But it is not a big deal to respectfully disagree and move on and find what works best for you. I am down to 313 pounds. That is down a total of 16 pounds since starting the #FreeTheYoke #SummerOfMove #MQuattro challenge. I am not sure I will get under 300 pounds by week 9 and competition’s end, but I will be heading in the right direction for sure.
