Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over?
With the news that Brian Fallon (lead singer of The Gaslight Anthem) will be releasing a new solo album “Sleepwalkers” on Feb 9th, I felt that this post was fitting. The Gaslight Anthem is currently on a break, and Fallon is pushing on. There is a song “The ’59 Sound” that screams, “Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over? Did you hear your favorite song one last time? And I wonder were you scared when the metal hit the glass? See, I was playing a show down the road”
It made me think of the senseless shooting that occurred in my now home state of Texas this weekend. It honestly seems like it is just never going to end. Thoughts and prayers simply don’t seem to be enough as this is the second shooting in recent years (Charleston, SC a few years back and another once home state of mine) that occurred AT A CHURCH…WHILE PEOPLE WERE PRAYING.
I Don’t Know The Answer
I am not a very political person. I am actually a registered independent because I often like to hear both sides of the arguments, then try to make informed decisions. But it would seem like we have been at a tipping point with regards to guns, and nothing is tipping. I hope that the people with much more power and intelligence than I can get together and start drafting solutions for this issue, because quite frankly, I don’t think our society can take much more of this.
ONE THING I LEARNED TODAY:
Stay happy, stay positive, do good in the world, and try to overshadow and over power the bad with as much good as you can give. Dance, listen to great music, eat good (healthy) food, and spend time with loved ones living and laughing. Practice these thiings in your daily life and in your business, it will make us all happier and healthier. In the meantime, go listen to everything you can by The Gaslight Anthem, The Horrible Crowes, and Brian Fallon. It is a good escape from the world for a little while.
